Sholem Aleichem! The yiddish club invites you to join its exploration into what was perhaps your parents' secret language. The intention is to continue this as a regular fun temple activity at 11:30 AM after every monthly bagel breakfast, open to all members. The meeting location will be in the library or the main sanctuary. We will also probably be continuing to show videos of Yiddish songs, comedy and cinema as well as doing a lot of schmoozing in Yiddish and English. At our last meeting we saw videos of Leonard Nimoy ("Mr. Spock") quoting Hamlet in Yiddish and telling his personal story, as well as a clip about the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Mass., and some Yiddish song and conversation. Knowledge of Yiddish is not necessary (but it doesn't hurt !).
