On Tuesday, November 15, Beth Shalom Temple Sisterhood held its first annual Mah Jongg Tournament Fun-raiser. The tournament benefitted Hands of a Friend, which is the parent organization of DaZee’s and Genesis House, as well as our own Sisterhood and ultimately the Temple. More than 100 women enjoyed a hot Chinese lunch, catered by Panda House, followed by 2 1/2 hours of mah jongg playing time. Our own Margaret Bierd was the top scorer, and she received the prize of $100. May women went home winners, however, because 20 gorgeous gift baskets were raffled off and others snagged a door prize. The tournament was a great success, and we are already looking forward to the second annual tournament in November 2012.
